I don't think so. She not posting as much as she use to on twitter, but she has been posting at lease once a day or two on Aimi Yoshikawa Instagram. I think that see might just be on vacation and not filming any new videos at the time. probably because of the holidays seasons.

might be or might not, with current situation in JAV its normal for JAV idols especially veteran to slow their release, I think the offer are much less than usually
But Hunter seems to be the only studio she works for now, and each title also features other actresses.

Well like it or not, that's Aimi Yoshikawa's m.o. for almost a year now. If you like her like I do, at least be thankful that she isn't retiring. I am still not sure what the reason(s) was, but she's no longer top ranked, not even an "AV idol" (who release a "solo work" once a month, typically) nowadays. She very rarely get her name on the cover nowadays. It seems that she isn't enjoying a high prestige nor a high income (per vid). Hopefully she's making up for the income by shooting lots of scenes per month.
Her career mode is what I called "anonymous idol" or "fake amateur" (especially for Hunter vids). I had a thread about that topic. The industry has a formal phrase for it, "planning actress" 企劃女優.
Well I really would prefer Aimi to enjoy a more successful career than this. But there are several positives out of this:
"fake amateur" is a good genre to have around. I do love the top idols (Shokotash, Yua Mikami etc) but the current JAV culture is that top idols can't perform in a broad range of genres and themes, "fake amateur" vids are fun and horny but if the unfortunate reality is that appearance in certain type of vids is bad for an idol's prestige then well someone with low prestige must make them. Of course naturally most of the "low prestige" performers are old and ugly. So having Aimi Yoshikawa in that category is unfortunate (for her) but awesome for fans. It's really quite a mystery to me because for all I can see she has everything it takes to be a A-class idol, not competing with (S-class) Shokotash and Yua etc, but should be competitive with the Julia, Hibiki, Kirara etc.
Another positive is that she's available to make orgy scenes. Again, the culture is that prestigious idols don't share a scene with other female performers. Aimi has top-idol quality (good-looking face, great figure, decent acting skills, great sex skills and "professionalism" when it comes to fetish such as S&M) but no prestige. But... for some reason, she isn't making as many orgy scenes as I like.
Final one is a wish and a hope. Most idols with a half decent career may (or not) make a couple uncensored vids for one last cash grep just before retirement. Only very (VERY) few top idols made a career in uncensored as well. Aimi hasn't started in that direction yet, but I am wishing and praying that she will make uncensored vids early and often and not as a precursor to retirement.

I wonder why she does not shoot gonzo stuff focused on her body and curves, the sort of stuff Tsukasa Shiori shot for years for companies such as K-Tribe, Maza, Nitro . Even when she does solo releases, they are vanilla stuff, moaning festivals and light pseudo S/M. There are few exceptions (eg., her stuff with Fitch) but they are, infact, exceptions. I don't know if are the producers who sleep or her refusing such kind of work, but I would like to see her in stuff like that:

It depends what you are looking for. Planning movies are generally more original and entertaining than solo releases, and they are perfect for a subtitled vision. But when you are a big fan of an actress, you obviously prefer to see 2 hours of her than a half a hour scene in a movie filled of other actresses you don't care.

for me, I prefer to see other actresses that I don't care but perform in sex act that I like than 2 hours of my favorite idol doing something that I dislike (masturbation only, BJ HJ only, panty flashing, sex with tentacles, and others)
I don't know which specific fetish you are talking about (the "sex act that I like") but I am talking about traditional, B/G (or even G/G) sex scenes and traditional, standard solo releases.
As of 2017, masturbation only solo releases, BJ HJ only solo releases or even sex with tentacles solo releases are pretty rare if not virtually non existent (I checked but I cannot find a single masturbation only solo release in the last two years, the few masturbation only movies are compilations featuring tons of actresses). Solo movies have generally 4-6-(more rarely)8 scenes, and they feature a bit of everything (classic BG sex, a blowjob scene, a 3P/4P or more people scene which is usually at the end), the only moment I generally skip is the silly interlude in which 2 or 3 guys get the actress naked and start playing with vibrators and those sort of microphones.
Except you have a very specific fetish you don't find in solo movies, in solo movies you have at least three long classical sex scenes with an actress, in planning movies just one.

Miyu Saito and Shiori Tsukasa are not bad, but IMHO, Aimi is hotter than them. And I don't think Aimi is picky at all or vanilla-restricted. Her S&M vids are more hardcore than any other "super-body" hotties are willing to do.
If you ask why she's not or MARA or KTDS or URMC, well totaly random guess: could it be those studios don't pay as well as HUNTA???
Well I pretty much believe she is willing to shoot whatever genre as long as it fulfills her career target and she has said more than once her single career target is MONEY.
So OK, we know the top studios (with some guesses): S1, Moodyz, IdeaPocket, (perhaps) ABP, Oppai, E-Body, SOD? Aimi's early career was with STAR and TEAM (a SOD label, I believe). So I have no idea why none of the top (or near top) studios signs her when even Minako Komukai can claw her way back to a contract. I really can't imagine it's her unwillingness.
Anyway without an exclusive contract, what's the next best way to maximize the money?

You are maybe right, but damn, I don't think she is engaged in shooting HUNTA and AP more than 5 days a month, why she do not shoot BOTH?? They would mean more money, after all. And more solo releases also mean more exposure, which generally leads to more work requests and more money.
About planning vs solo. It's entirely idiosyncratic that prestigious idols can only make solo works (except for major specials like 10 yr anniversary, AVOP etc). And planning vids mostly feature second-ranks (Shiori Tsukasa) or even no-names (the nobody formerly known as Aimi Yoshikawa). It's also idiosyncratic that the top of the top idols tend to make all sex vids like soapland and funny and crazy theme and plot twists are for lesser idols.
Most of the solo vids, seriously I am talking about 99% of solo vids, the way that I watch them...I mean I'm really talking about my opinion, but I really suspect a lot of AV fans are similar... 99% of solo vids are too long by half. A good porn needs to be about 10-20 mins long if you know what I mean. That's the way when I was 14, and it's still pretty much the same. Of course nowadays, I have much better endurance than when I was a cherryboy. But there's no way I can hold myself for one single girl for 2 hours. A multi-girl vid is a very easy (if not cheap) way to increase variety and dynamics to a 2 hour vid.
