- Informal retirement Kirara Asuka: she is denying retirement, but her status is "taking a rest indefinitely", she is rich so money won't be a factor pulling her back.
- S1 announced a 14-members (Nene Yoshitaka, Yua Mikami, Shunka Ayami etc) grand plan to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Why 14 not 15? It seems 15 girls was the original plan but there were some drop out and they end up mustering only 14. Also the grand plan will include more than 1 vid, so it will be several vids each starring a handful (not 10+) idols.
- Moe Arihana 有花もえ is ending her contract status with Max-a, she is free lance at the moment.

- Mirai Haruka はるかみらい is giving negative signals she might be quitting. The worst incident is making a no-show for a AV filming day, leaving the stud, crew and studio high and dry. She (tweeter) seems to be unhappy and hanging out with Kana Kimiiro 君色華奈, who is herself showing shaky signs too.

She has been very successful judging by the sales, but she is super-shy, never appearing in any public (promotional) event or interview, a Twitter account that may or may not be herself, and not releasing any preview/trailers for any of her AV. Playno1 speculate she's thru-and-thru a "make-a-quick-yen and melt back into civilian life" kind of girl.
- Chinami Ito 伊東ちなみ （contract with S1) cancelled two scheduled events in a row (at least one of them had already sold many tickets) and has practically disappeared. Fans should brace for a retirement without even a chance of farewell.
- An Tsujimoto's (S1 again!) reason for retirement has (supposedly) been well known in the AV industry since April, since (unlike typical Japanese) An is always talking, in fact even her future husband's identity is known in the industry. However, it's not known to the public/fandom until on 9/9 she let slip some wording of a "He" or "my man" (BF or husband) when responding to a fan tweet. That fan pursue the point with a follow up "Husband (laugh)", to which she very tellingly neither confirm nor deny. (for typical Japanese woman, hack for most of the world, a woman would explicitly deny the word "husband" if she is not in reality married or engaged)
- S1's SSNI-247 starring Miharu Usa 羽咲みはる was exposed to use a bottle and tubing to fake her squirting. (the biggest non-scandal scandal if you ask me) (if I were S1's boss, I would hire the most expensive exorcist to drive away some evil spirits)
- a TV documentary interview a ex-idol currently known as Shijimi しじみ, she debuted with S1 all the way back in 2004, has made many uncensored vids and still perform bit parts for Attacker vids and also (illegally) sell her own vids on FC2. The TV channel even arrange for her to visit her family after being away for 15 years. Only then (with the TV camera rolling) she learned that her father and grandma had died. blah blah needless to say it's a tear-jerker. It's also revealed that for past 10 years now she has been living in poverty.

- Kia Aoyama 青山希愛's STAR-986 is her retirement vid. But it's a strange theme for a retirement vid: incest. It seems what happened was that it was filmed as just a regular vid with a common theme, but after the filming before the publication, she decided to quit (around early August). Giving SOD studio just enough time to slap a "Retirement Work" label on the DVD cover (to maximize sales).
- Asahi Mizuno 水野朝陽 maybe retiring soon. She wrote some tweets that hint at it, she's also taking some classes in cosmetic-related work, she invested in a restaurant named after herself is generating steady income, also she doesn't spend her money on luxury and comfort so she is believed to have a solid financial foundation. As she wrote in her tweets, treasure the limited opportunities.
- filling in the shoes of Sora Aoi, Yuma Asami, Aino Kishi and Kirara Asuka, Masami Ichikawa 市川まさみ was selected to captain Ebisu Muscat. However, she caught a scare when a crazy fan on Twitter threaten violence (more specifically to himself) at her greet-and-meet event. The fan actually made good of his threats and show up at her event with a knife on his person and prompted got himself arrested by police. It is not know what his problem is.
