Many useful resources provided. Opted for PotPlayer over MPV for viewing 3D VR in 2D due to being less tech literate than I realised
Seeing the video in 180/360 is awesome. Proximity is much easier to visualise now. So close... curious to see how close an actress can get to the screen before going cross-eyed, as I've seen others comment on. Closing one eye gets rid of that effect, as in reality.

My laptop did not like Whisper. Black screen static crash, as is often the case when I try to do anything GPU/CPU intensive. Will keep a note of it for when I eventually upgrade my device. As you mentioned, the other uses Google AI so not entirely accurate - but I get the general gist of the dialogue, so can't complain.

PyTranscriber creates two files: a plain text file, which is the one you have posted, and the STR file with the subtitles. This is the one you have to rename the same file as the movie file, so that it can be seen in the player. It has the timings so that the subtitles come in and out at the precise moment:

Yes, in VR you see it much closer than it looks in flat, and at actual size..... ;)

It's just like in reality, when a girl kisses you, you have to close your eyes because she's so close you can't focus. In VR when they kiss you the same thing happens, the trick is to open only one eye... ;)

OK I fixed my stuttering video issues, and might have saved some money if I knew about this beforehand.

I bought Heresphere on the Meta store which runs within the headset and it works better than the Steam version I bought cos it was cheaper due to regional pricing. As it turns out, this runs better for me.

Despite my PC being more powerful than the Quest at handling video files, I think it has trouble feeding the videos of that resolution back to the set. My network is on WiFi 6 but my router isn't particularly powerful. Not to mention there are other devices on the network too.

This could just be me, other folks might have different experiences. If you're new to VR, I would suggest you grab some high quality VR clips (notably HEVC encoded ones) than buy both the PC and Meta versions of Heresphere, try them out simultaneously, and keep the version that works best and refund the other one.

Of course, there's DeoVR which is free but I really didn't like it after trying out. Heresphere just has a better interface, more intuitive controls, and even works better with XBVR than DeoVR.

I'm glad you fixed your problem with the videos.... :)

I told you that a few weeks ago, that if you have a Quest, you must have a Quest version of HereSphere... Even if you have a more powerful PC as the Quest don't have HDMI the PC doesn't send direct image to the Quest, it sends compressed video and that makes you lose video quality.

What you did was to play the video on the PC, and compress it to send it to the glasses. That extra step in the middle of playback could cause stuttering.

With a Quest it is best to play the videos natively on the headset, either by saving them in the memory of the headset (impractical), or send them to the glasses directly from the hard drive via WiFi.

DeoVR is crap, much better HereSphere.

You must use some DLNA software. I don't have a Quest so I don't know what software people use, someone who has the headset can tell you that.

How do you send them to the headset via wifi?
Airlink. That's the Quest software to link up to the PC and accessing its desktop. Previously, Heresphere was running on my PC and thus streaming the video to my headset via Airlink. That seems to have been the cause of the stuttering. I also needed to fire up Steam and SteamVR just to use Heresphere. Those additional software layers might also have contributed to the problem.

Now I run Heresphere on my headset instead. That seems to resolve the issue and I can now play HEVC videos smoothly. However its still connecting to my PC via XBVR. I suppose I could directly connect to my NAS using samba but I like my XBVR interface.

Eh, pick your poison. I for one can't stand Heresphere's UI, and find DeoVR to be a better option. Besides it's free.
Is there any significant feature that's missing from Deo?
I don't know how the Quest version will be, but with the PC version of DeoVR the image quality is worse than in HereSphere, the sharpening is much worse, it has no MSAA filter options, and much less options to adjust the image to your IPD. For example it does not allow to reduce the size of people without using zoom, something that HereSphere has. I have a high IPD and in DeoVR I see everything very big, and it barely lets you configure anything.

HereSphere is less intuitive to use, but with DeoVR the image quality is worse if you use supersampling and filters, and it doesn't let you adjust the image exactly to your eyes, as HereSphere does.

If you look on the SexLikeReal forum, which is the people who created DeoVR, almost everyone uses HereSphere....

I don't know about the PC version, but I definitely adjust scale both in zoom and IPD. Deo has a sharpening feature but it really doesn't do much, so it might be a win for Heresphere there. I need to compare image quality between both apps, because i don't think i noticed any difference before.

One cool feature that they are experimenting with now is passthrough. It's still very basic and full of imperfections, but the effect of seeing a pornstar in your room is pretty mindblowing. Unfortunately it doesn't really work with JAV scenes, unless you are able to key out the background somehow

I don't like the passthrough. I don't feel like watching an actress in my boring room. It's not real.

Plus it has too many compromises. The mix of the video of the actress and the real background is not perfect and it is very noticeable, it forces you to be at the same angle as the film was shot, it forces you not to change angles in the film, forces the camera to be placed farther away than usual, and it limits your imagination and the way you shoot. I don't like it, it adds more limitations than it offers.

I don't know, for me it can feel very immersive. It's true though there are a lot off issues they need to figure out.
It definitely is in its infancy. In some ways it reminds me of VR in 2016, when tech was new and nobody knew how to do it.
I think it can work pretty well but in very specific conditions, when the lighting, angles, performances and everything is just right.
What i'm really looking forward to is videos in real 3d, where you can not only look around but also move. I think we are slowly getting there

This would be totally awesome... Is anything already underway?

Any recommendation to watching vr on anroid phone? so far i'm using gizmo vr
If you're going to be asking here, the suggestion would be to buy a proper VR headset.

Quest 2 is pretty cheap right now and should be affordable to anyone who isn't earning in a weak currency. It has its flaws but its still a huge upgrade over a phone.

Only problem is once you tried it, you might now be tempted to splurge on the Quest 3 for better quality video. VR JAV is crazy addictive.

I just don't follow VR hardware for mobile, so I don't know much, I can't recommend anything, sorry. Second-hand Quest 2 are cheap. It is the best option to start.

Haha, I feel we should also warn about the hidden secondary cost.

VR videos are large. If you want to be able to maintain a library of them to watch, you'll also need to splurge on a NAS and and hard drives for it, That will cost you more than your headset itself.

The NAS is not an absolute necessity, can just get a really large hard drive I suppose...

Well technically a lot of websites allow streaming VR now, so large storage is not a necessity, but it's definitely not ideal. I'm sporting two 15TB drives and they are filling up more quickly than I'd like ;)

I've seen some proof of concept demos years ago, can't find it now. Devs at Sexlikereal are supposedly actively working on it but have nothing to show yet

The problem I see is that if you can move within the 3D environment, it's not useful for POV. If the actress is doing something in front of you and you move to another position... you would see the actor that replaces you... I suppose it could be blurred, but it would look weird.

It would only work for non-POV scenes.... Personally it would be awesome for lesbian VR... :)
