New Server (again)

I´ve seen this at some other sites too, possibly the letters are black or at least very dark (grey or blue) so that you cannot see them although they may be there - possibly...

I don't know if it was everybody or not, but at least for me I was not able to access the board at all from around 11pm or so (maybe earlier than that) Eastern Daylight Time (so around 3am GMT) until just now at 12pm EDT the next day (so around 4pm GMT). I'd checked it this morning at 10am (2pm GMT) as well as just 20 minutes ago and it was down. Checked it right now and it loaded.

What I got before was a vB database-is-down announcement. Not a vague 404 or a timeout, nor chompy's A-O "we're currently down for maintenance" announcement which retains the board's layout.

The server is being poked and prodded and tweaked.

It's unlikely there will be steady uptime at all for the next few days

I keep getting pop-ups and pop-unders on every other page, which is becoming very annoying, it takes ages to delete them, I do not know if an outside source is trying up load here, just in case you did not know.
20 something hours later it does seem a lot longer to upload, maybe that will settle down as well.

I have to admit that I had no idea what kevin was talking about until only 6 days ago when I set up my new Linux box. I was -amazed- by the number of porn ads on this site when viewed unfiltered.

Just forced an update. It feels weird having Ed back now.

I don't run the dark skin, so I neglected it for a while.

It should never have had the blue header to begin with, I simply lost the dark one and "forgot" to find it again.

Seems like it's down most of the time still, but not sure if that's still taking it online/offline. When it's up pages load fast enough, but that's probably because it was inaccessible the last few times I checked these past few hours.

Ah, I see, well, it's running incredibly fast compared to, well, I was going to say few months, then I was going to say months, then I was going to say year, lol, but basically, ever, hah..

I am now finding it very much harder to get on here, mainly I keep getting a fast gci error, and most times it seems to run slower as well

I get the FastCGI error often too, kevin, but I think chompy knows and is still working on it. It's not even been a week since we changed servers, so there's still plenty of things to experiment with, work out, etc.

For what it's worth, it doesn't appear to be timezone related 'cause I get it morning, midday, afternoon, evening, and late at night, and I am also able to access the site during those same times of day. In fact, just right now I opened three tabs in Firefox for A-O threads, and one of them FastCGI'd but two of them loaded! So I'm definitely of the opinion that it's more of a server or vBulletin code glitch than it is a fault of international traffic. But who knows ... who knows ...
