I don't think it matters much what culture you look at it. If you observe the porn stars from that culture you going to find at least SOME girls who've lost all sense of dignity or shame (or at least embraced their shame).

JP, KR, TW, HK all have quite different crime gangs. They are not all huge and not all around. E.g. HK triads are small (much smaller than say 40-50 yrs ago, the period that inspired a lot of triad movies) than Japanese yakuza but triad activities are more criminal (say 90% of triad activity are illegal vs. 90% of yakuza business are legal).
But one common thing with JP, KR, TW and HK is that crime gang problem isn't very hgue. So say yakuza may be "everywhere" (according to some) but for average citizens their lives are not really affected. So just pick a random indicator any kid who's smart and work hard, the greatest temptation is for him/er to go to university and get a good job, not to join a gang, or to work in sex industry.
