JavLuv JAV Browser

I'll let you judge for yourself. Here's a quick example I just took in Topaz AI Upscaler (2x upscale - Proteus model with manual fine-tuned parameters):

You can see the hands obviously have fewer artifacts. But you might also notice that the tartan patterns of the skirt are also enhanced and sharpened slightly. In the lower image, there's a dramatic improvement in the detail of the actress' hair, as well as the bow.

Once you've output this cleaned up version in either lossless or near lossless, you can then re-encode using a more modern codec, like h265, which preserves a lot more detail in the HD output, with fewer artifacts from the original encoding.

It's not a perfect process, and you often have to fine-tune parameters or switch upscaling models to get the best results, and even then, there are times certain scenes just come out less than optimally. For example, when a model is just far enough away that all the detail of her hair strands are lost, there's not much that can be done to restore that lost detail, so it ends up looking like a piece of cloth in the upscale. Stuff like that. But overall, I think it's generally a win.
Yeah Ive tried topaz. I think has AI gets scary over the next year, I recon AI my even create JAV for us :)
I can see a difference but I use shaders tbh which can create a very nice upscale on the GPU level. I keep all original older files, I never reencode for this exact purpose and a AI future. Thank you Temp guy. I took your suggestion on have started to move my 60FPS content to the same folder as the original. Works well.

JavLuv has gotten incredibly slow for me. I haven't changed anything in my system (that I know of), and JavLuv used to be very quick in loading images and starting movies.

Lately, when I change views, or even open an actress profile, the movie tile view takes many seconds to over a minute, to load the tiles.

Has something changed? What might explain this slowdown in loading images? Thanks.

Hmm, I made a slight change in background auto-saving, but that was a few versions ago. It sounds like something is drastically slowing read access to your drives where images are stored. I can't think of why JavLuv itself might be slow.

I've seen this happen before with Windows, where it suddenly decides that it needs to ramp down access speed to a particular drive. Maybe check on data transfer speed. Copy a large file, like a movie, from your storage drive and your C drive and check to see if the transfer speed seems reasonable, which you can check on using the file transfer dialog's detailed mode.

Actually this has been going on for a little while now. I've only lately gotten back to using the PC and I had to update JavLuv twice in as many days. But to be fair I also just did resolve an issue with Win 10 suddenly not finding my NAS and I needed to do a load of Windows updates to fix it.

I will do some transfer tests all the same though to check.

Does this "upscaling" really provide a benefit? Can you really improve the quality of a 650mb 480p movie by transcoding it?
Ive had mixed results with AI upscaling so far but best I do is to change them to 60fps and just give it lot of bandwidth to lose less of itself. Changing to 60 makes a huge difference on old vids enjoyment and ive done a lot and they do fast. I can give quick tutorial using free software and no knowledge at all needed.

You can also use on the fly shaders via say MPC and some impressive results can be achieved. If anyone wants shaders then I have loads, they are public domain.

I use Handbrake for any 1:1 reencoding, I could see if it has a 60fps upscale setting, it probably does.

Ok just an update. I did a thorough disk clean-up and that solved the slowdown problem.

But it was the strangest thing, there were literally tens of thousands of strange NFO files named with JAV ID's, and with various 3, 4, or 5 digit numbers appended to the file names. They were all between 2-6 kb and scattered throughout my JAV folder. Deleting them took several hours! I think Javluv may have created them at some point? But they were only on my NAS drive.

Anyway problem solved, Javluv is back to its normal speedy self.

That's interesting. JavLuv will only append a number if it's renaming a file and it finds a duplicate entry. I'm not really sure what could account for so many duplicates. I guess in theory if there are existing duplicates, then maybe every time it tried to rename a file, it would run into a duplicate, then try to find the next available number free. Weird.

Having an issue adding cover art. Used to be, when I right clicked, I would have the option to import the cover. Now when I right click, I get these options. Solutions?Screenshot (2).png

In settings, make sure "show advanced options" is checked.

Hi, I've started using JavLuv and it has been great. There's just one change that I would like to suggest.

Is it possible to add a text field to modify the title on the NFO file? I like to add the DVD-ID in the title, but it looks like JavLuv doesn't do that and I don't see any option to change that. So if there's a field similar to the "movie" field where we can use your tags. that would be great

Not quite sure I understand. When you say you want to change the "title" of the nfo, do you mean the filename? That's controlled by the "Metadata" field. Or do you mean the movie title inside the metadata?

If I'm misunderstanding, could you give an example?

Thanks for replying. I meant the movie title inside the metadata. I'm assuming the metadata is the data inside the NFO file.

Ah, okay. Well, so no, there's no functionality like that. The move / rename functionality is strictly about folder and filename organization.

The only place you can't really do that is the title in the detail page. Is that what you're looking for? An option similar to "Show ID" in the browser view?

Actually, never mind this request. I've been using Emby to manage my collection, I used JavLuv to organize some new files for the first time. But I couldn't search in Emby with the DVD ID for the files, so I thought that it's because of the title in the meta data have the DVD ID. I've tried the move/rename again and this time it works. So I think it was a configuration on my end that it didn't work. Thanks for your help!

I think I found some bug about the amount of actresses to be read in JavLuv, when I try to open a movie, I have this error:
1685067474188.png
Then, I look in the nfo file and I see that there are many actresses listed there, so I tried to remove all except one actress. The movie is showing normally after doing rescan files. I think it's because of the amount of the actresses are too many. Can you check this?

One more thing, I scan a new movie let's say it is ABW-358. When I scan the movie, the cover is not available only showing this image:
1685067782082.png
I tried to find the original cover and import it to the JavLuv. The result is that the cover only shows in the browser view only, when I open the detail view, the cover is still showing the same image of "Now Printing". I have tried delete metadata, delete cover, copy paste cover manually, regenerate metadata and rescan files but with no result. Can you advise me how to fix this?
Thank you.

Just to confirm, are you running the latest version of JavLuv (1.1.28)? This looks sort of like an issue I fixed quite a while back, at least based on the call stack you showed. Anyhow, there should be no limit on the number of actresses allowed. I have a movie with dozens of actresses, and there's no problem. If you're running the latest version, I'll take another look and see if I can figure out what's causing that crash.

There are sometimes issues with replacing cover files, which I think may have to do with the cache file not being replace. I'll have to look into that. The most reliable method seems to be Import Cover Image, and selecting the image file to replace it with.

Yeah, I just use the new version this morning and scan the new movie. Sorry, maybe my explaination is not clear. What I mean about the actresses here is in the movie detail, not the Actresses browser Tab. I checked, the error only happen when I open the 1 specific movie only, I attached the metadata (original result from scan). So I thought that something is wrong with the nfo file. And as I said before, I removed the actresses list (in that nfo file) and I can open the movie detail normally.

Regarding the cover image, I tried to open the cached image in the thumbnail JavLuv folder. Then I delete the picture of that Now Printing, close the app and rescan the files. The cover is changed to the correct one which I import. So I that's how I solve it, maybe you can do some fix later about it with this information.

Yeah, I'll take a look. I haven't seen any issues with large numbers of actress' names. For example, one of my movies has this ridiculously huge actress list (and that's just about half of them):

I'll see if I can figure out what happened from the stack trace. Thanks for the report.
