Supmop: no idea regarding Moodyz. You should throw your questions at R18 (the A-O user) for that one. However, putting 2 and 2 together: since bus scenes are now proscribed, that wipes out a pretty big theme with the Bako Bako series. Not to mention it costs a crapload of money to hire on 16 or so actresses. Correct me if I'm wrong as I didn't see it, but wasn't 2015's Bako really short in running time compared to previous years?

I think since Japan doesn't have as much as a strong religious lobby (thankfully--and nothing against religious folk, but seriously whether you believe in Jesus, Allah, or a Spaghetti Monster, please keep it to yourself), you're seeing less pressure to 'soften' pornography compared to the USA. What we're seeing now with tamer themes is more of a knee-jerk reaction to that actress who made the 'forced' claims from the other month. There's also the whole 'cleaning Japan's adult image' for the upcoming Olympics but I'm not really buying that argument (at least in regards to JAV).

There's a crapload more VOD sites like them in Japan selling content with many studios opting not to put their wares on DMM due to strict rules (and more importantly) less-than-generous revenue sharing deals.

Is there any place where those studios' releases are listed? What's good about DMM is having a list with new releases, but knowing that there are studios that aren't listed makes me wonder where to find them.

I am no expert on Japan and Jav but this is my 2cents on the subject. This is an interesting thought that you have brought up. The great thing about JAV at least for I, was the novelty value it present back in the 80s to early 00s because most of what they did seemed to be pushing the boundary of porn with things that would have never been done in the west while at the same time I swear some of it was down right illegal to produce in most countries and these illegal movies have since then gone under ground and or the companies have stopped producing them and went mainstream (ie. gloryquest and its bestiality movies, or this other famous movie that I have only heard of where this actress was having sex while giving birth at the end of the movie ) I am not saying that they should go back and produce illegal content like that; no but what they do make now is repetitive and boring. As other more veteran and reputable posters have said above the usage of fake "nakadashi" needs to stop; it happens to be my most hated practice, as well as fake dicks, and practice of having intercourse with condoms while finishing with a creampie that leaks out somehow. It completely ruins the immersion.

Why I think this is happening is because of a few factors, the recent UN debacle with Japan and its CP laws, which put the porn industry there under the microscope so to say. As well as the number of JAV companies forcing women to act by making them sign these shady contracts and making them do acts that they didn't wish to participate in. A couple of these have come out in the recent year, as well as the famous "Bakky visual incident"

The Olympics that they are scheduled to host is another factor I think. Japan needs to clean up its act for the world stage so to say and make everything more tame.
+1 IMO Tokyo hosting Olympics for 16 days won't affect JAV. Brasil was impeaching its president, dealing with widespread political scandal, cracking down on gangs in favelas, distributing free condoms to athletes, and issuing health advisories about Zika virus, etc. Usain Bolt won the 100 meters. Athletes were busted for doping. Monica Puig won Puerto Rico's first gold medal. Brasil hasn't changed. Rio hasn't changed. Brasil is Brasil.

I personally thing that there are measures taken to make sure certain titles and genres aren't that easily accessible outside of Japan. There are quite a few titles boundary-pushing titles that you can find in stores, but not online. For example, r*** sections in stores are still stocked with fresh new titles. Some of the titles I've searched for online don't seem to come up with a single hit. Same with loli titles.

yes you're right the 2015 Bako is short compared to previous series, and the final big orgy scene in the spin off MIRD-159 is 99% same with AVOP-119, usually they used different camera and we can see different actions :(

I'm not a religious person too
hoping JAV will back to normal again

I find myself watching American porn more lately. It use to be JAV was much better. Now U.S porn is more tempting. The non story stuff is great now in U.S porn! However, with JAV, the movies with story (Like FA series) are way better than American ones though, and like when SOD and Rocket do cool stuff like invisibe man or game shows etc. So JAV is not quite dead since once in a while there are some good material. Also, in JAV there is no stupid over acting or filler lesbian crap like I see all the time in American porn with stories (As seen in Wicked studios etc).

I think invisible man and time stop theme is the JAV iconic beside bukkake

I've never seen US porn anymore, now they have more natural girls again ?

uhm I tough if they cancelled the product online = pulled out from the stores too

maybe some already release producst still can be found in some shops or collector items seller

but would be strange if they still producing those videos in form of DVD / bluray and for sale in japan only

I browse the new US gonzo scenes almost everyday (without downloading it) and for what I see, there are natural girls but they don't seem to be long term actresses. Top stars still looks like pornstars.

the reason I stop watching US porn is not only because they look like pornstars, but they look cheap and their fake nose, lip, boobs are very easy to notice

the latest who look real are Penny Flame, Lacie Hart, Tori Black and Ashley Orion

and from 2000-2010 europe, especially eastern european have a lot of pretty natural girls, how their latest stars ? still great or more like american pornstar ?

Give it a year or two and things will get back to normal. I remember a few years ago Hentai went through scrutiny phase and you had complete horrendous censorship going on. After a year or two they seemed to toned down or went back to normal.

I don't think that JAV is losing its edge, but it does seem to me that its going through a dip or slump right now. For one I don't think that the industry has any top tier JAV idols to carry the industy like they have in the pass. Yes they have handful of popular JAV idols, but their a combination of the leftover (for lack of a better word) from the previous generation and some up an comes. They don't seem to have those main stream appeal JAV idols to carry the industry. In the pass JAV idols like Sora Aoi, Yuma Asami, Maria Ozawa, Nana Ogura, Rio Hamasaki, Yua Aida are just some among a group of 10-15 JAV idols of their generation that form the backbone of the industry. Right now i don't see many JAV idols that have debut within the last couple of year what have made the same impact as those girls did when they first debut and the following couple of years. Even the girls that have make a big impact when they debut, they either burn out quickly or lose a lot of stream after a good year or two. As for the Idols like Kirara Asuka, Julia , Tsubomi, Hitomi I associate them with the tail end of the time of the super idols of the likes of Sora Aoi, Yuma Asami among other. Which just show you how long they have been around. I huge fan of them, and i still enjoy watching their new videos but it can be hard for them to hold the same high level of attention and excitement of their fans over a larger period of time.

It could also be a side effect of the fact that every year so many new girls debut. Some seem to just want to make a quick buck or two. While others don't see the future they wanted when they first got into the industry. They where probably hoping to hit it big, but after a couple of movies and a luke warm reception they rather cut their loss an get out rather than get pay less than they think they should be getting pay.

Another possibility is that so many cute, hot, and sexy idols debut each year. That we have just become somewhat desensitize to all JAV idols what we are just expecting too much for each girl from the start. So when we see an average performances we quickly lose interest and move on to the next cute/hot/sexy idol that just debut who is the next big thing. As a result we don't get to see jav idols develop and come to their own, because they weren't A+ performers from the get go, like some other girl we saw debut at the same time. At the same time we lose interest on the "it girl" we left some other new idols for because she either had a really luck and good first debut and everything after that is sub-par. Quick example Yua Mikami. I really like her debut movie and TEK-073 movie, but besides those two movies every think else has been average at best. I think that Yua Mikami has everything she needs to be a top star and as of right now is under performing especially compare to her full potential. The same can be said of so many idols out their. I think that is way it seems that JAV is losing it's edge. Especially given that the larger studious producing the same top tier and quality of JAV films and Idols as they did in the past. The bigger studious right now just seem to be buying what they see as top talent idols. Who actually build their name and career at smaller labels and movie genres. Only to be tame and piggen hole into fitting into the what the type of movies that larger studios like to produce. those are my two cents.

agree

JAV currently lack of real diva

beside the names you have mentioned, I miss Honoka, she have elegant high class lady style which is rare to see from other performers

yes I think that might be the reason for some girls who only have short career in AV

good comment

yes sometimes we are not fair by comparing new comers vs legends, we can't accept the fact that new comers still lack of experience and need time to develop

+1 US porn went through similar phase in the 1990s-early 2000s(?). Replacements couldn't carry the torch after stars retired. Studios cut back on budgets during transition from film to video. Stars were created by marketing not performance.

I just know Caprice and Angelica from eastern countries who are popular, but I don't know if they are still active. Few months ago, I noticed a nice natural girl in US porn because guess what... she's asian lol (Kalina Ryu).

For right now, JAVs only seems to have lost a step. Hopefully that is all it is and the industry as a whole just needs some time to complete the transition from the physical media to digital base media. But it is very possible if the industry continues to thread downward or stay stale. We could be in for a rough couple of years.

U.S Amateur Porn is better than U.S Pro crap. Also non U.S porn like Putalocura, and GGG are great. When I say U.S Porn I mean stuff like Blowbang.com, Killergram Interracial Blowbang, etc. They are not too bad and in some ways are better than some JAV in terms of action and cumshots. Not as creative as JAV though. I think Putalocura though is one is of the best right now. Newer girls are not the standard bimbo type and are willing to do more.
