This one puzzled me for the longest time: アクメ

Most translators (even not-so-machine translations) gives acme, which is the phonetic (Romanji) of the katakana アクメ. But what is Acme showing up in so many JAV titles? Most of us know it as Wiley E. Coyote's favorite mail order company of technogears, which makes no sense at all (unless those ubiquitous powered massage wands are call Acme something) Today I come across a different translation: orgasm. Now that one makes some sense if you look at it in context:

E.g. "終わらない拘束調教アクメ" might make sense as Endless (終わらない) Bondage (拘束) Training (調教) Orgasm (アクメ)

But how did orgasm end up as "acme"? Any idea?

Google translate has a text to speech option. It's pronounced "akume", which might be a Japanese pronounciation of the English "cum". No clue if that's the right explanation, but English terms tend to end up with an extra vowel or two.

Acme is a (loan)word in English too, meaning summit or zenith, so it's easy to see how they got orgasm or climax from that.
The Japanese language uses a lot of loanwords from various languages.

Edit: yeah, you got it. :)

Ahhh... the "summit" might be something. Orgasm in Chinese (also a source of loanwords for Japanese) is "高潮", or high tide. Ahhh... here we go, in Japanese, 絶頂 is also used for "orgasm". Just like kiss and love, Japanese doesn't include native words for these concepts, only loanwords from either Chinese (絶頂) or English (オーガズム). And lo and behold 絶頂 means both summit (of a hill) and orgasm.

I daresay we solved it.

Hello all.

I'm keen on the Izumu large breasted range of DVDs but I also like the verbal taunting by the ladies also. Just wish I could understand what most of it was. I'm trying to figure it out. Are there other variations for the word 'smothering' used than 'j succu'?

Also, are there other words for breasts? Don't seem to be getting much further than 'Opi'.

Many thanks.

Let's keep the thread going. Any more words/terms commonly heard in JAV?

I heard the term "soro soro" used during a handjob scene, I think it means slowly, like stroking the penis nice and slow. :kenyang:

I think this is known as "DVD Toaster" on DMM and other JAV sites. It's always a "genre" or "tag", I've never seen it as part of a title or synopsis. Its meaning is a mystery to me too. But that it never seen in the title makes me think it's kind of like the "Hi-Def" or "Under 2000 Yens" tags, not meaningful regarding the content of the vid, not a proper "genre" as we think of it.

The best person to answer this is @Inertia .

ding73ding: No idea. Toaster? It sounds like something that got translated wrong.

The movie description is something like 'we have sex with a 24 year old super lewd and tan amateur gyaru Kana with a shaved pussy and limitless sexual desire and cum inside of her."

robbus: desu kind of has no meaning on its own. Kuruma desu - kuruma da - kuruma all mean the same thing (it's a car), but with different levels of formality. you can also amplify desu to degozaimasu but you'll get funny looks with that one.

Otherwise what you wrote is accurate.

Found some info on"Toaster".

Chilblainn on Reddit: "toaster" is a tag used on DMM.co.jp (official industry site for buying dvd's and digital versions of japanese porn). It means the movie is available in DVD Toast format, a mac program for making movie DVD's (basically another version of .iso)
sites that mirror japanese movies like 3xplanet just copy and paste DMM's tags, so "toaster" ends up becoming a (useless) category on there.

Thanks! I knew it's something like that. In my almost-defunct JAV database program, when collecting the film info from DMM or other sites that evidently mine DMM for the same info, I have a little process that discard certain tags, such as "Hi-Def" and "DVD Toaster".

ikasete - make me cum. Girl sometimes says when having sex
ikisou - I'm going to come
ikitai - I want to come
iku - come / I'm coming
An katakana phrase that shows up time and again in the titles is イキッ, which at best get translated as iki or ikki. What does it mean? Can it be "cum" or "orgasm" or more specifically female orgasm? I think it's only female orgasm because in STAR-580 松岡ちな 初イキッ!! It's supposed to be first ikki or first orgasm, but clearly in her few vids before STAR-580 we have seen male orgasms and ejaculations involving her.

Or am I reading too much into it and ikki is just plain cum (orgasm of either gender) or even cum (as sperm)?

i'm guessing it means 'ikimasu' which means iku' or 'i'm coming'.

What is a ハーフモデル?? "Half model" Hmm... that's what the katakana says, "half model" but what is a half model???

This is not exactly a translation question, maybe more a culture question? My guess is... like a fashion model but not so famous... Perhaps a semi-pro? Perhaps any model who is not a top model is a half model? The Japanese for half, normally, is "半". Using katakana ハーフ for that concept must mean something specific, something exotic.

The trigger for this question is the new release:
EBOD-516 E-BODY専属デビュー 人類が初めて出会う究極くびれボディ ハーフモデル 城田アンナ

Real model or not, she's deserving of that extravagant debut title. She's very tall and has a striking look the moment she steps into the camera.

They use the katakana version to refer to a person that is "half" japanese.

EDIT : I think i also heard it for transgenders... meaning half-girl or half-boy in that case.
