Possibly there is some better methods, but from what I've seen, it requires doing a lot of complex things manually. With this method you only have to enter 3 or 4 menus, it is very simple and works well. But if someone has a better one, by all means let us know, we are all looking for the perfect translation.
My mistake was that I compared my experience with western porn which in almost all cases is just awful from what they are saying and how they say it.
Exactly. If Western porn spoke Chinese it wouldn't even be worth translating. The scripts don't exist, they go straight to the sex, and when they do exist they are nonsense. And during sex 90% of the dialogues are "Fuck, yeah, oh fuck, oh my god"....
In JAV VR almost every movie has an intro that explains why it happens what happens in the sex scenes. And during the sex, the actress talks continuously with erotic and sensual words.
Of course there are also silly scripts and actresses who just say catch phrases, such as "It feels good" and "I'm coming", but in general the AI translation enhances the eroticism of most VR movies.
My current settings are (please share if you have a better/higher quality method):
I have removed all those options in blue. I don't use any of those optimizations. In the tests I've done, almost all of them do is mess up the start and end time of each sentence. That is, the sentences start or end out of time. In the end, the least error-prone thing to do is not to use any of that, even if you have to correct dialogues by hand.
Note that in the latest version of SubEdit there is a new engine called "Faster-Whisper XXL", which in theory is more advanced (and consumes more resources). But you have to install it manually (see the What's New)
Besides that even with all the improvements with AI it's far from perfect.
Yes, the translation is still not perfect. As you say it makes mistakes with genders, it hallucinates and says nonsense, or sometimes a sentence stays on screen for minutes. You have to do a lot of editing by hand, testing with the movie, even adjusting the timing of some sentences yourself. That's why I'm only translating my favorite titles. It's quite a lot of work, but the result is worth it.
It's true that sometimes it doesn't translate whispers in the ear because they sound too low. Or phrases that the actress utters while moaning or screaming during sex. They are hard to understand ever for a person. But luckily VR movies are the ones that translate better, because usually only one person speaks, and the microphones are more powerful than those used in 2D movies, the girl is closer to them.
And yes, I too think the AI has some censorship, but it's hard to tell. Other "dirty" phrases are translated.
